The UAE has a growing niche of women aviation enthusiasts and hence the opening of the UAE Chapter of the WIA would be highly beneficial for helping UAE women so that they could challenge the odds to achieve their dreams.

Mervat Sultan, Finance Manager at RamJet, an elite aviation support company. Mervat Sultan said that the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) had verbally approved the constituting of the WAI UAE Chapter and hoped that things would be finalized and the chapter ready to open its doors to like-minded women and men in under one month. She revealed that plans to start a UAE Chapter had been underway for six years, and were only coming to fruition today owing to the growing interest in aviation in general as a career option in the UAE, and the confidence  in young UAE women that they could challenge the odds to achieve their dreams.

Christina Tervo, who runs Wolston Sky as owner alongside with being a wife and mother of three children, noted that when she started in aviation, she didn’t dare tell her parents what she was doing. Twenty years on, she says the skies and people’s mindsets are much more open to welcoming women into the fore.

This years exhibition provided the company with the opportunity to showcase new developments as well as to further make an impression in the UK and European market. It was estimated that over 150 FBO’s had showcased their services at the event, allowing for promotion of even more destinations and partners.

This years visitors to Business Airport World Expo, included executive jet, corporate fleet, private charter and private owners and operators’ chief pilots, operations directors, scheduling directors, CEOs and managing directors as well as brokers. Exhibitors at the event included FBOs, business and general aviation airports, MROs, handling agents, and refueling companies from all over the world. The experience was extremely fruitful for the company

The experience was extremely beneficial for RamJet Aviation and proved fruitful in projecting the company’s future interests and exposure into deeper markets.

This years event also saw the return of the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Conference Training Initiative with an expanded seminar program focusing on risk management and the increasing financial responsibilities of the S&D position. This year there were 12 sessions, twice the number of offerings in 2012.

The event proved an extremely fruitful experience for RamJet in projecting the company’s interests and accommodating their entrance into further markets.

Expectations were greatly fulfilled beyond initial anticipations as this years event bought in greater crowds of visitors and proved the launchpad for a number of new suppliers to the region.

RamJet took the opportunity to showcase its line up of services and partnership programs which included ground handling arrangement services, fueling services, in flight catering services, overflight clearances as well as crew/VIP accommodation services to name a few.

Being one of the pioneering aviation support companies in the region RamJet Aviation has come a long way from its humble beginnings to one of the fore mostly recognized names in the regional aviation industry. With services extending from pre-flight planning to post flight services the company can cater to a wide range of specific requirements.

RamJet has been successfully showcasing at MEBA for the last 2 years and looks forward to the event this year. With the airline industry dragging itself out of tumulus times, RamJet Aviation is increasingly optimistic about the future for the industry in the region. During the interview key questions concerning the status of the aviation industry and how beneficial a base in the northern emirates would be were discussed. Mr. Issam Sultan pointed out in a nutshell the long road the company had come through and their aspirations for the future. With over 10 years of trusted service to the industry the future appears to shine for the company.

There is a lot of marketing by the RAK Government to show it as a tourist destination. Since early this year, we are getting more and more enquiries within the emirate.

RAK is a growing emirate with a lot of potential. In the last few years we have seen the presence of charter operators seeking to operate more flights in to RAK Airport as a tourist destination. And I see more SMEs prospering here.
